Exponents are the same thing as powers. We say power because we won't say 2 to the exponent 3. So that why people call it to the power of.
Exponent and powers tell how many times to multiply a base number by it self. EX: 5 to the power of 3, is equal to 5x5x5. Never do 3x3x3x3x3,
if you reverse it you will get the wrong answer.
A base number is a number that is the original number. EX: 5(base) to the power of 3(exponent), the number will always be the base number.
We use powers and exponents for several things. For EX: If a tree grew 3 branches and each branch grows 3 branches how many branches
will be in total in 6 days. Then you would use the exponents. It will be 3 tfo the power of 3 which will be 3x3x3x3x3x3 which is equal to 729.
To solve exponents in 6th grade and under just multiply them normally.
here is another example 3 to the power of 4. What you will do is 3x3=9 x3=27 x3 = 81.
